Slought Foundation and Soundfield NFP are pleased to announce an evening with sound artist and composer Werner Moebius on October 25, 2008 from 8:00-9:30pm. Werner Moebius is based in Vienna and London but has been building an international reputation via a series of residencies in Chicago, Liverpool and Mexico City over the last 3 years. His work encompasses sound installations, as well as solo performance, ensemble compositions and video works. For his first project in Philadelphia, Moebius will present a program with prerecorded sounds, live musicians and visual projections. Soundfield and Slought are excited to present Werner Moebius in Philadelphia for the first time, whose work is situated at the leading edge of contemporary experimentation with sound, technology and new media. This concert is part of the 2008-2009 Soundfield @ Slought series.

Werner Moebius was born in Innsbruck, Austria, and lives in Vienna. Moebius works with sounds, beats and files in the context of audio culture, sonic and intermedia art, electro acoustic improvisation, electronica and pop. His practice encompasses computer generated music, real time composition, mixed media installation, field recordings, and remixes. He has performed in a wide variety of institutions and festivals including the 8th International Biennale in Cairo, the Kunstforum and Künstlerhaus in Vienna, and Whitechapel Art Gallery in London. Werner Moebius has received awards and grants including the Chicago grant of the Austrian Federal Chancellery 2005, Award of the Sussmann Foundation Vienna 2005 and the Music Award of the City of Vienna 2003. He has performed, often in collaboration, with musicians and composers including Fennesz, Christoph Kurzmann, Gelatin, F.M.Einheit, David Moss, Jason Khan, N.U.Unruh, Hans Joachim Roedelius, Billy Roisz, Cornelie Müller, Alexeij Sagerer, Hanno Leichtmann, Johannes Strobl, Stephan Mathieu, Rudi Mahall, Didi Bruckmayer, Alexander de Goederen, Oliver Hangl, Ulli Koscher, Heidrun Holzfeind, Paul Divjak, Georg Wagenhuber, Christoph Hinterhuber, Machfeld, Gernot W. Koza, Frenk Lebel, Hans Falb, Stefan Parnreiter, Renèe Stieger, Phillip Quehenberger, Marco Eneidi, Hermann Stangassinger, Hannes Schweiger, Wilbert de Joode, DD Kern, Lee Patterson, Gene Coleman,Todd Carter and Mariella Greil.
